Resolved Question: How much would a trip to Los Angeles, USA cost?

If I wanted to go on holiday to LA how much would it all cost if I were to go for two weeks in the summer holidays (UK) so around August. For 1 adult including a plane ticket, hotel( has to be decent so 3 star at least), food, shopping (obviously) =), visiting places etc. Would I need a visa? Any recommendations for hotels, places to visit in CA area, restaurants etc? This would be much appreciated. I just want a rough idea because I’d love to visit, I know it’s gonna be expensive but I don’t know exactly how much. I’m hoping to go next year if I have the money. Thanks =)  more

Resolved Question: Current Events: How and why would you not believe that 9/11 was a Conspiracy?

I have enough evidence to supply you with. To start, I was a Former Senator of Illinois. Many of my 9/11 Conspiracy Knowledge come from there... Here are my evidence. Please answer my question when you are done. I will list a few and tell me you believe or not. 9/11 - An Inside Job? An Inside Job? US officials are compiling what one called "growing" evidence that other hijackings may have been planned for September 11. Officials from both the government and the airline industry tell TIME Magazine that a knife-like weapon was found on each of two separate Delta Airlines aircraft later that day, although neither plane took off due to the nationwide grounding after the World Trade Center and Pentagon attacks on hijacked United and American airlines planes. Investigators are not yet certain how these weapons came to be on board the aircraft. But they increasingly believe that the weapons may have been prepositioned by accomplices for use by others. As one US official told TIME, "These look like inside jobs." 9/11 Security Courtesy of Marvin Bush Marvin P. Bush, the president’s younger brother, was a principal in a company called Securacom that provided security for the World Trade Center, United Airlines, and Dulles International Airport. Numbers suggest terrorists targeted flights The numbers appear out-of-whack, thankfully. And so, a lingering question is why the passenger loads on the four planes hijacked in U.S. skies are being described by industry officials as "very, very low." "You have to think it was by design, that they didn't want to go on a flight with the chance of the passengers working against them,'' said Dave Esser, head of the aeronautical science department at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. "If you've got the threat of a bomb or a gun you can hold people at bay. These guys were strong-arming people with box cutters and knives. "They wanted the numbers to be on their side.'' And they were, staggeringly so. Three of the transcontinental flights departed for the West Coast with at least two-thirds of the seats empty. Only 37 of the 182 seats were occupied -- including four by hijackers, at least two in first class -- as United Airlines' Flight 93 left Newark for San Francisco. The only flight that was even half full proved to be American Airlines' Flight 11, a wide-body Boeing 767 that left Boston bound for Los Angeles with 81 passengers. All 9/11 airports serviced by one Israeli company ICTS is [...] an Israeli owned company, and [...] it sells services to every airport from which the hijacked planes operated, including security, sometimes through wholly owned subsidiaries like Huntleigh USA Corporation. It has been suggested that the incredible feat of hijacking four aircraft without a single arrest at the gate would require the resources of a nation-state. This is even more true with the revelation that at least one gun had managed to be aboard a hijacked plane. One company had automatic inside access to all of the airports from which hijacked planes departed on 9-11, and to the airports used by Richard Reid, the shoe bomber. An Israeli company. One that Mossad agents could easily find employment with without the management knowing who they were or what their purpose really was. But one thing is clear. By virtue of the Odigo warning, someone knew enough about the planned attacks to warn Odigo before the planes had even departed the airport gates, yet they did not call the Israeli security company at the airports which could have stopped the flights from leaving. Bush Senior Met With Bin Laden's Brother on 9/11 On 11 September, while Al-Qaeda's planes slammed into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, the Carlyle Group hosted a conference at a Washington hotel. Among the guests of honour was a valued investor: Shafig bin Laden, brother to Osama. http://whatreallyhappened.com/WRHARTICLES/govknow.html Okay then..9/11 - The Basic Questions 1. Why didn't jets intercept the airliners since they had numerous warnings of terrorist attacks? 2. Why did Ashcroft stop flying commercial airlines, citing an unidentified "threat" in July 2001? 3. Why did FEMA lie about their presence in New York on 9/11? 4. Why didn't the Secret Service hustle Dubya out of the classroom? 5. Why did George H.W. Bush meet bin Laden's brother on 9/11? 6. Why did passengers or crewmembers on three of the flights all use the term boxcutters? 7. Where are the flight recorders? 8. Why were the FISA warrants discontinued? 9. How did Bush see the first plane crash on live camera? 10 Why was security meeting scheduled for 9/11 cancelled by WTC management on 9/10? 11. How did they come up with the "culprits" so quickly? 12. How did they find the terrorist's cars at the airports so quickly? 13. Why did Shrub dissolve the Bin Laden Task Force? 14. Why the strange pattern of debris from Flight 93? 15. How extensive was the relationship between the Taliban, the ISI and the CIA? 16. What exactly was the role of Henry Kissinger at UNOCAL? 17. When was it decided to cancel building a pipeline from Turkmenistan through Afghanistan to Pakistan? 18. Why did the FBI in 1996 close the files to investigate Osama bin Laden's relatives in Washington? 19. Why did .Bush stop inquiries into terrorist connections of the Bin Laden family in early 2001? 20. Who made the decision to have John O'Neill stop investigating Al-qeada accounts? 21. Who gave the decision to give him a security job at the World Trade Center? 22. Did John O'Neill meet anyone of the FEMA in the night of September 10th? 23. What about media reports that hijackers bought tickets for flights scheduled after Sept. 11? 24. Why did none of the 19 hijackers appear on the passenger lists? 25. Why would devout Muslims frequent bars, drink alcoholic beverages and leave their bibles? 26. Why would the hijackers use credit cards and allow drivers licenses with photos to be zeroxed? 27. Why did the hijackers force passengers to call relatives? 28. How did the hijackers change the flight plan without law enforcement or the military try to stop them? 29. How did a hijackers passport miraculously appear near the WTC? Who found it and what time? 30. How could the FBI distinguish between "regular" Muslims and hijacker Muslims on those flights? 31. Why was there not one "innocent" Muslim on board any of these flights? 32. Did someone go through the passenger lists looking for Muslim names and label them as hijackers?  more

Resolved Question: Holidays to America...?

Before you tell me I've already posted this or something, it seems it went into the wrong category and so wasn't being seen. I am aware that the question (seen here: http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Auhq9SZLfJraXzETcIZ58PkgBgx.;_ylv=3?qid=20090117082153AABPI4k ) already exists, but I'd appreciate help from UKers. ----- I've tried using as many of the travel agents I can think of as well as online websites and such, however, I'm getting very little (if any) information. I'm a student, so funds aren't that high. However, at the end of June/beginning of July, I am wanting to go to Los Angeles (USA) for around 7-10 nights. The details: -I'll fly from ANY airport in the UK that takes me to LAX. -There is just me, so I'm aware that a singles supplement may be needed. -I want at least 7 nights, 10 if I can get it. -I want to stay in LA, or Huntington Beach/Orange County (as they're only an hour or so away from each other, so travelling from one to the other for day trips would be easy). -I want a hotel with AT LEAST three stars and I'd prefer to go half board (but will go bed & breakfast if needed). The reason I'm wanting to go via a travel agents is to ensure my holiday will be ATOL protected, so please don't suggest I arrange flights/hotels separately, myself. Could anyone help me? Can you tell me... -Any information you find (if any) and rough idea of prices?! -Any travel agents/companies/links that might be able to help? Thanks.  more

Resolved Question: Revisit: Who agrees the GOP has become the party of hate,?

In a previous YA post, I asked "Who agrees the GOP has become the party of hate, rumors, misinformation and deceit? Plenty of responses, mostly all the same claims against Obama, but no evidence. So I ask again, but request those who are McCain supporters, try to answer my questions with evidence from impartial news reports. To help you, here's a partial list of credible news reporting agencies: CNN Fox News MSNBC ABC News CBS News NBC News USA Today The Washington Post The New York Times The Chicago Tribune The Kansas City Star The Los Angeles Times The BBC National Public Radio (IMHO, this is the most reliable source) I am looking for information reported as news, not opinion columns and blogs. There is a huge difference and I'm sure you understand. Comments from Bill O'Reilly and Rush Limbaugh do not count as credible information. They have opinion, but do not report impartial news. Likewise, don't reply with web blog information. If the claim isn't backed up by impartial major news agencies, then it's just another opinion. Web blogs make all kinds of claims, but if you try to find their root source of information, it's non-existent. Just another opinion with no substance. Show me where a major news outlet carried a story about the issues below on the front page, or evening broadcast. Here are the questions: a) Some claim Obama has changed his tax plan multiple times. Show me where it is reported in the news. I see only repeat of rumors, where previous rumor is used as evidence to support the new rumor. Dig deep, find me concrete evidence where Obama himself has announced a change to his plan. b) Some claim Obama is not a US citizen. The lawsuit claiming Obama's birth certificate was not real was thrown out of court. Show me proof the court made an error. If this is a real issue, who among the major news reporters are covering this story? c) Some claim Obama supports terrorism. What proof do you offer? He had a passing acquaintance with Bill Ayers? This is similar to claiming McCain was a spy for North Vietnam because he spent so much time at Hotel Hanoi. Ridiculous? Yes. Come up something more substantive. I'm from Missouri. SHOW ME!  more

Resolved Question: I need help with a translation,?

Hi, I'm learning German but I'm not to the point to where I can understand everything. Can you please translate this in to English. Thanks. BILD: Ihr seid gerade in Los Angeles angekommen. Wie unterscheidet sich für Euch L.A. von New York? Bill: Das sind für mich zwei ganz verschiedene Welten. New York ist viel europäischer. L.A. ist mehr das, was man sich als Europäer unter Amerika vorstellt. BILD: Morgen spielt Ihr in Hollywood euer erstes komplettes Konzert nach Bills OP. Seid Ihr aufgeregt? BILD: Das nennst Du Achtungserfolg?

Two examples: 1 when he wrestled the Ultimate Warrior at WMVII as a heel and left as a babyface, he entered the ring wearing a white hat. 2. when he defeated Ric Flair at WMVIII to take the WWF strap, he wore a gold costume. • Hulk Hogan agreed to drop the world title to the Ultimate Warrior at WrestleMania VI because he was planning on retiring and wanted to pass the torch on to his babyface successor so he wouldn't have to come back and get "revenge" on a heel for his fans.*Hogan forced McMahon to give him the strap at the end of WMIX by threatening to no-show his tag earlier on the show with Brutus Beefcake against IRS & Ted Dibiase. • WrestleMania VII was moved from the Rose Bowl to the Sports Arena in Los Angeles because Vince McMahon feared a sniper might try and take out lead heel Sgt. Slaughter, playing the role of a Iraqi sympathizer during the Gulf War. • Apparently feeling he had nothing to lose, Sid Justice doublecrossed Vince McMahon by kicking out of Hogan's legdrop at WMVIII. Sid had been caught cheating on a drug test a few weeks earlier and was going to be suspended. Sid's manager, Harvey Whippleman (who is said to have supplied Sid with the false urine sample that WWF official Dave Hebner found Sid carrying in a vile) reacted quickly, jumping into the ring and getting his man disqualified before all hell broke loose. • McMahon wanted a Flair-Hogan main event for WMVIII, but before Flair surprisingly was unable to re-up on a contract with WCW, McMahon signed Sid with the promise he would wrestle Hogan at the next WM. So, McMahon went with a double main event of Hogan-Sid and Flair-Savage. • Prior to WMX, McMahon had Lex Luger come out with the world belt for a television taping, scheduled to air after the pay-per-view. Either planning a swerve all along or changing his mind after word got out, McMahon had Bret Hart win the three-way tournament between Hart, Luger and Yokozuna. • In 1994, WCW used to hire paid models and actors to sit in the audience to cheer and boo their wrestlers because the audience was usually dead for their shows. • When WCW did the World Wide show, they used to have a monitor to tell the audience who to cheer and who to boo. One one occasion when Rick Rude and the Equalizer (the "heels") came out, the audience accidentally cheered for them and WCW had to reshoot their entrance over again. • When Shawn Michaels was attacked outside of a nightclub by approximately 10 "thugs" (actually it was by a marine group), Shawn was accompanied by Davey Boy Smith and Sean Waltman (1-2-3 Kid). Shawn tried to be the brave one and he ended up suffering for it. • The WWF says that the Dynamite Kid left the WWF and retired because of an injury. Actually, the Kid still wrestles in England and the real reason he left was because of a locker room fight with him and Jacques Rougeau. The Bulldog opted to keep contact with the WWF and because of that and other reasons, the Bulldog and the Dynamite Kid haven't spoken in years. • On May 11, 1987, Kevin Von Erich collapsed in the middle of the ring during an eight-man bout pitting him, The Fantastics, and Bruiser Brody against Brian Adias, Black Bart, Al Madril, and Al Perez. Fantastic Tommy Rogers, seeing Von Erich turning blue, administers cardiopulmonary resuscitation. • Bam Bam Bigelow was chosen as the opponent for Lawrence Taylor at WMXI because he was the WWF's best big man worker. Bigelow says that as payment for doing the job he was promised a big babyface push down the road. That didn't happen as The Cliq (not fans of Bam Bam) began gaining political power, and Bigelow wasn't with the company very much longer. • The Undertaker is undefeated at WrestleMania's. Neidhart had been fired and was filling contractual obligations, which including jobbing the tag titles to another team. In what should have been a minor point, the top rope broke at one point during the match. The Rockers defended the titles for a week after that, but then Neidhart was re-hired by the WWF, and Vince McMahon decided that the title change never actually happened, in one of the goofier decisions of the 90s, and one of many to affect the careers of Shawn and Bret. As an explanation, a story was sent to Pro Wrestling Illustrated about the rope break causing an "unfair working environment" for both teams, and hence the title reign was annulled. This was simply to cover up for the fact that they reported the title change as fact a week prior and needed a reason to no longer report it as such. The title change was edited out of the Main Event broadcast, and thus went down in history that the Rockers never had the belt. • From 1986-1989 Ric Flair averaged 34 minutes per-match. He did eventually go back to college and get his degree in English. • Bruce Hart gave Wayne Farris The Honkey Tonk Man name. • Chyna is fully licensed to compete in boxing. • The WWF considered giving Dustin Rhodes a "Gunslinger" gimmick, before coming up with Goldust. • Rikishi has a brother that wrestles as Fatu in Japan. • Jimmy Hart thought of the 3 Count gimmick. • Jimmy Hart and Jerry Lawler attended the same high school in Memphis (not at the same time). • Prior to WrestleMania IV, USA Today got a copy of the post-WrestleMania WWF Magazine which listed Randy Savage as champion before the tournament (where Savage beat Dibiase in the finals) took place. McMahon publicly referred to it as a coincidence. • The Ultimate Warrior left the WWF in 1991 because he and Vince McMahon did not come to terms on his future role...Warrior wanted to be in the title situation but the WWF saw differently...in 1992, the Warrior disappeared again because he did not want to get involved in a second-rate feud with Nailz. • In 1991, Ric Flair was fired/quit WCW. He showed up in the WWF soon thereafter holding the WCW title and claimed to be the "Real World's champion." The reason he was able to leave the company with the title is because he owned that title. WCW later bought it back from Flair for reportedly $75,000. • On May 26, 1987, Hacksaw Jim Duggan and the Iron Sheik were arrested by N.J. State police. Duggan was charged with possession of marijuana and drinking alcohol while driving. Sheik was charged with possession of marijuana and cocaine. Duggan received a conditional discharge and Sheik received one year probation. • On July 4, 1989, Davey Boy Smith, Jason the Terrible, and Chris Benoit were injured in a head-on automobile accident in Jasper, Alberta. Smith suffered a cracked vertebrae in his back and needed a hundred stitches in his head after being thrown through the windshield of the car. Jason suffers 2 fractures in his left leg. Resolved Question: What is a great place to stay in Los Angeles?

Im planing to go to the USA next year for a holiday of about 2 and a half months as a solo traveler. I arrive in LA and wondering how long I should spend there and where I should stay. I cant hire a car as I am under 25 which I have heard is pretty essential in LA. Has anyone stayed at the HI in Santa Monica or the Vibe Hotel? Id like to spend a day or so at the beach and also see disneyland and would like to stay somewhere not too expensive. I think perhaps a hostel also as I will be by myself. Any advice on accommodation, locations, activities and how long I should spend there would be appreciated.  more

Resolved Question: Doesn't an airline have to reimburse you if you're stuck in an airport overnight?

I recently flew cross country (USA) (NYC toLA, with a stopover in Houston) and missed my connection in Houston to Los Angeles. I was on the last flight out of Houston so I couldn't leave that night, and I had to pay for a hotel room for the night. Although it was the airplane that arrived late to Houston and my connecting flight, on the same airline, left before I arrived. The airline blamed the air traffic controllers and said they were not liable. I ended up paying $85 for 6 hours in a hotel room. Is this legal? Doesn't the airline have to reimburse you?  more

Resolved Question: What is the best..?

place (hotel/motel) to stay which is safe, reasonably priced and central in... Los Angeles Houston Chicago Cleveland Boston New York Washington DC. There are 5 of us (3kids, 2 adults) from Australia..going in July 2007 I found in Los Angeles: Ramada Plaza Hotel and Suites West Hollywood/Beverly Hills. Is this a good location? I have looked at price and am fine with it. We won't be going to Disney Land (we're going to Schlitterbahn, Cedar Pont, Busch gardens Europe and Water country USA). Anyway, what are the safest areas which are still central (if possible) to stay in these different cities mentioned? Where is the best area for complete safety to stay in Houston? Thankyou! Resolved Question: Why won't anyone answer my question on...?

How much time do you need in July (in america) to stay in Las Vegas and go to the grand canyon? We are going to USA from Australia in July (I know...US summer..we are wanting to go to USA without snow etc so we can experience it during summer and also go to Cedar Point and Schlitterbahn water park as well. Anyway, Could we possibly just spend 2 nights in Las Vegas and drive out and see the grand canyon? (we will be flying from Los Angeles to Las Vegas and hopefully from Las Vegas to Austin, Texas (and driving 1 hour to schlitterbahn in new braunfels) and then driving to Houston, Flying to Chicago etc. Anyway, will 2 nights (flying into Las Vegas early in the morning so we get two full days be enough? We are a family of 5. We won't be gambing much probably just $5 or $10. We would be going there for a luxury hotel and to see the Grand Canyon. Will 2 full days and nights be enough? We have very limited time. We will also be going to Sandusky, Ohio, Chicago, Boston, New York and Washington DC before flying back to Los Angeles and flying back to Australia. We have a limit of a month (4 weeks) in the US. We really wanted to get to Orlando and go to sea world, wet'n'wild and 2 disney world parks Epcot and another one. Will we have time? We want to only spend 3 nights all up in LA, hopefully just 2 maybe 3 nights in Las Vegas, 2 or 3 nights in New Braunfels, Texas, 2 nights in Houston, 3 nights in Chicago, 3 nights in Sandusky, 4 nights in Boston, 4 or 5 nights in New York and about 3 or 4 nights in Washington DC. We want to also visit the best museums (world-class) in the last few cities I mentioned. Should we fly to Las Vegas, drive out to the Grand Canyon (with a hire car) and then drive back to Los Angeles (by-passing Las Vegas) and then fly to Austin, Texas from Los Angeles? Is the road well-populated? I'm worried about breaking down on a quiet stretch of of road in the desert (40degrees celcius heat!). Is it a busy road? What is the best airline (safe and good quality) which flies directly to Austin, Texas from Los Angeles or Las Vegas? Please name them. South west, Delta, Continental? Direct flight please! Why 3 days in the grand Canyon? Is it near Phoenix? Where do you stay the night? How many hours drive is it from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon? What sort of weather problems might interfere with our travel plans in July? Cyclones/tornados?  more

Resolved Question: Can you help me plan a vacation in the USA?

Well,I live in Italy and am planning to visit the USA.Probably it will be in the late spring or early fall when the daytime is still long.I want to visit Los Angeles,San Francisco and New York.Obviously there are many more places I'd like to go to but I don't want it to be too stressful.I think it will last almost 3 weeks and I'm gonna stay in cheap hotels,I just need a room on my own,I don't need anything luxurious. . .To eat I guess i will go to some fast food, restaurants, cafes etc so I won't spend a fortune.I'm also planning on not booking hotels from Italy but to do it once there. Please, could you tell me approximately how much in dollars it might cost me?And do you think it's a good idea to find a place where to sleep directly on the spot?Any recommendation would be highly appreciated,in particular if you come up with something I haven't considered. Thanks a lot and greetings from Italy.  more
